Description

This self-paced Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course is every bit as effective as my in-person calligraphy workshops. There are no time or demonstration constraints, so I was able to include absolutely everything that you need to know! On film, I am able to communicate concepts from different shooting angles, and you can pause and re-watch videos as needed. If you don’t quite understand how to do something, there’s a “Discussion” portion under each lesson where you can ask questions. Lessons include a short quiz and homework assignments. Here’s the course layout, including video durations (minutes/seconds):

  • Video: Creating Faux Calligraphy (20:03)

Lesson 2: Pointed Pen Calligraphy Supplies

The course ends with a short video explaining your post-course homework. The total viewing time for this course is approximately 4.5 hours, but I’d recommend allocating two months to do everything that you’re asked to do in the course.

As with everything that Lindsey produces, this online calligraphy course is top notch. Her instruction is clear and easy to follow, the audio/video is professionally done, and the supplemental class worksheets are easy to access and download. This class is a bargain for the quality and level of instruction she provides. It was my first introduction to calligraphy, and she made it painless. Thank you for putting this course together, Lindsey!

This is a great course for those that are wondering what modern calligraphy entails and how you can get started. Her approach to teaching is clear and inviting, an approach that has really worked for me. I’m now taking it to the next level with the Intermediate course.

  3. Kendric Peoples

This is such a great course. I went into it knowing very little about calligraphy. I’m already halfway through and have learned so much already. I’d recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a new hobby.

  4. Kat

I needed a class that would demystify calligraphy and really break it down into it’s bare essentials. Lindsey’s videos and explanations are easily digestible, and the price point is accessible. I felt more confident after taking the course, and she is super responsive when you ask a question within the “comment” section of the course. I recommend this course whole-heartedly.

This course is wonderful if you are new to calligraphy. Lindsey has a relaxed and fun teaching style. I have gone back and watched the videos to reinforce what I have learned. I especially enjoyed the the calligraphy medallion at the end of the course and have since practiced her snowflake medallions.

This course helped stimulate my interest in calligraphy to a new level – – -actually doing it on the worksheets! Thanks so much for the very helpful videos that accompanied the worksheets – – -precise focus and zooming in helped clarify areas of doubt!

This was an absolutely wonderful course to learn the basics of calligraphy! Lindsey does a wonderful job of explaining everything, the videos are through and she is so helpful if you have any other questions. I’m definitely looking forward to taking more of her classes!

This course has provided an excellent foundation for not only my physical skills of being able to execute the exercises, but also for my confidence. Lindsey seems to remind us at just that right moments that it is okay if isn’t perfect. I was afraid that after I completed the course I would feel as though I had “finished” and there wouldn’t be anything to make me continue practicing. I could not have been more wrong! By the time I had done the last exercise, I had already written in a notebook pages of project ideas I wanted to try based on her inspirations. I look forward to the emails Lindsey sends and I keep adding more projects to my list as others are completed. I am currently working on the Intermediate Course and I love it as well. Thank for the the thoughtful and informative content you continue to provide for us.

Absolutely brilliant course for beginners! So much information and guidance available through this course, with everything you need to know to get started all in one place. The resources provided mean you can take the course at your own pace and practice each step as often as you need to. Lindsay has made this such an affordable course and is wonderful for those of us who are starting out.

This is a very organized, well thought out course. I loved being able to go at my own pace. There is a lot of information in the course and I have gone back and watched the videos when stuck on a project. I still pick up information I had forgotten or missed when going through the first time. I especially appreciate Lindsey’s incorporating questions from students in past live courses. Those answers and solutions to difficulties were very helpful. The worksheets are great practice tools and yes the paper makes a huge difference! I highly recommend this course.
