In order to create this map, I recommend:

  • Basic knowledge of how to use a dip pen (learn here)

Necessary Supplies

You’ll need a few basic supplies in order to create this map. They are: watercolor paper, a pencil, Photoshop (or other software), printer, light box (optional), a dip pen + ink, and watercolors. See this document from the course PDF for details!

This was a wonderful course. I would recommend to anyone that would want to make a map for any occasion. I created a map of my hometown for my children, who are now adults, to show the popular places we would go to when visiting. The ice cream shop, the pizza place and a favorite restaurant to include a few. I even included their grandparent’s homes. We have a famous bridge that was the center illustration. The course is easy to follow.

Lindsey’s watercolour illustrated map ecourse was wonderful!!! I had visited Paris and so I enjoyed her vista of the city.
I learnt so much in the course, as Lindsey is a very patient and inspiring teacher. She has little tricks and helpful hints to enable you to achieve the outcome which you set yourself upon.
I chose to do my birthplace town to be able to share with family members….. however, it’s still not completed due to different schedules and events.
I’m encouraged to set myself a time frame and achieve this goal.
One of the wonderful things about Lindsey’s courses is that you can go back over them and be helped again by Lindsey as you work through each stage…… and if you have questions second or third around Lindsey is still available to help with support.
    Thanks Lindsey

This was such a great course!
Lindsey is a very understandable teacher, it’s full of really good techniques, design tips and color theory. Since taking this course I have made several friendship maps. Highlighting the fun things my friends and I have shared. It really inspired me to play with the concept of maps. I recommend this class to anyone who wants a good experience with watercolors and inks right off the bat.
