Ten years ago, “learn Photoshop” was not an item on my goal list. I was proud of my analog skill set, so why would I have to fuss with digital stuff? The answer came to me — quickly — when I founded TPK. Photoshop proved indispensable in designing invitations for clients, making printables for blog readers, and editing photos! My only criticism of Photoshop? It’s very frustrating to learn. I hardly ever cry … but teaching myself how to use that program provoked tears of frustration! That’s why, years later, I made the Digitizing Artwork and Calligraphy eCourse. It’s been a staple of the TPK catalog for three years, and it will continue to call the catalog home for two more weeks until its retirement!

A French Farewell: Saying Goodbye to the “Springtime in Paris” Illustrations
As I mentioned in Monday’s newsletter, there are some changes afoot at TPK. I’m working hard to curate the TPK catalog before we implement a new website design later this month! Too much of a selection can be overwhelming, so I’m paring down and laser focusing on what TPK makes best: educational tools. You can expect most TPK eBooks, courses, and worksheets to stay! Most illustrations, however, are on their way out, including the “Springtime in Paris” Printable Stationery. I’ll be retiring them from the catalog on Tuesday, July 16th … two days after Bastille Day!

SURPRISE: This Brush Pen Worksheet is Only Available for One Week!
A couple of weeks ago, I released a limited edition worksheet set: the CLASSIC Amy Style. While learners seem to be enjoying the dip pen and Procreate versions of the worksheet, I’ve had a few requests for a brush pen version! With the clock ticking on the expiration of the Classic Amy, I decided to hunker down and make a brush pen worksheet set happen. My timing means that it’s only available for a week: but hopefully that gives you enough time to snag it if you’re interested!

Classic Amy Style Calligraphy: A Limited Edition Worksheet (Printable + Procreate Versions)

Contemporary Amy Style calligraphy is a clean, fairly matter-of-fact calligraphy style … but it didn’t start out that way. When I first developed the style in 2013, I gravitated toward calligraphy with plenty of loops and quirks! The very first Amy Style worksheet, released in 2014, reflected that. People loved the loops and flourishes, but I myself was gravitating toward a more serious aesthetic. So, I reduced the playfulness of Amy Style calligraphy in 2015. It didn’t go unnoticed; several learners called me out on it! Today, I’m pleased to announce that I’m bringing the “Classic” Amy Style back as a limited edition worksheet for $5.00: (probably less than) the cost of a latte. And — if you’re a Procreate/iPad user — you can purchase a Procreate exclusive edition!

Purging Printables: The Henna Bluebird Illustration

If you’ve been following TPK for a while, you know that we rolled out a new website design a couple of months ago. While it is an improvement over previous designs, it still just hasn’t been “hitting the spot” for me! As a website that’s home to thousands of images and countless tidbits of information, it should have a clean interface and be super organized. So: that’s our summer project! With Ana‘s help, we’re better categorizing blog posts and working to build a different, more polished site theme.

Craftsy Class Giveaway – Mixed Media: Pen, Ink, and Watercolor
Today’s post is the second in a series of four sponsored by Craftsy, an online community that offers self-paced creative classes taught by professional artists and artisans. I am a proponent of Craftsy because I believe that everyone can learn how to create beautiful things, and Craftsy gives its users structured, effective lessons.
