Every November since 2016, I’ve looked forward to sitting down with a cup of something warm and sketching out ideas for the TPK holiday worksheet. This year was no exception, and I think you’ll be pleased with the motifs! They’re designed to bring calm, beauty, and (sneaky) pointed pen practice to your holiday season.
This year’s set focuses on approachable motifs that look impressive but unfold through simple, repeatable strokes. You’ll find three different flourished fir trees, a joyful ornament, a snowflake-inspired calligraphy medallion, and useful holiday phrases. Each section includes guided steps, traceable outlines, and plenty of room to practice! My hope is that you can sit down with a page whenever you get the chance and enjoy that meditative “ink gliding across paper” feeling.
The Loop-de-Loop Fir exercise is a simple collection of strokes that come together to make a stunning fir tree.
As always, the worksheet is meant to help you make real projects. The motifs translate beautifully onto cards, gift tags, envelopes, framed pieces, and more. I used the fir trees to make a stack of quick cards, and the ornament design looks especially sweet on small square tags! The snowflake medallion is mesmerizing to create, and it makes for a stunning piece on its own.
This simple calligraphy medallion is eye-catching enough to display by itself.
This set is available through the holiday season, and I hope it brings you as much enjoyment as it brought me while making it. If you end up creating something fun with a motif, I’d love to see! And if you’re carving out a bit of quiet creative time for yourself during these busy months, I’m right there with you.

The Story of TPK Holiday Calligraphy Worksheets
The very first TPK holiday worksheet came about in 2016, when a reader emailed asking for festive calligraphy ideas. Since that year, these worksheets have become an annual tradition because they offer a bit of calm, structured creativity during a busy time of year. They feel cozy to work through, and they’re helpful!
You can compare past holiday worksheet editions in this article.
What you practice in the worksheet tends to show up in the things you make. Readers often take the skills and ideas from these pages and turn them into lovely cards, tags, and displays. The Instagram examples below speak volumes:
The flourished reindeer is from the 2020 worksheet and was created by @maison.rouge.calligraphy. The flourished tree ( red cardstock) is from the 2016 worksheet and was created by @calligraphybysana. The calligraphy/watercolor tree is from the 2017 worksheet and was created by @schreibkatze.
How to Get the Most Out of TPK Holiday Worksheets
How you use TPK’s holiday worksheets depends on your goals. If you really just want to relax with some calligraphy practice, I recommend working through the 2025 worksheet (or any holiday worksheet) in order. You can start with the fir trees, flourish the ornament, make your calligraphy medallion, then end with the phrases.
Alternatively, maybe you want to make a specific project, like a Christmas card or a gift tag. If that’s the case, pick and choose which motifs you make! You can skip straight ahead to a particular tree, the ornament, or perhaps a flourished phrase.
Any of the trees from this worksheet set look stunning when created with gold watercolor on dark paper.
Note that holiday calligraphy worksheets weren’t designed for complete pointed pen beginners. You definitely want to make sure you have pointed pen proficiency before you take them on! Anyone who has gotten to Lesson 3 or further in theBeginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course should find the worksheet both delightful and helpful.
If you have any questions about this year’s worksheet, don’t hesitate to ask! I hope that you enjoy these exercises … they really were a joy to come up with. Thanks so much for reading, and happy holidays 2025!
