TPK has teamed up with Scribblers to offer you a printed Kaitlin Style calligraphy workbook! This A4 workbook is gorgeous and functional; it’s a powerful learning tool. You can read more about it in the post below!

Today, I am very excited to announce that the Kaitlin Style Learn Calligraphy for a Latté worksheet PDF is now available as a beautiful printed calligraphy workbook through Scribblers! In truth, this couldn’t have happened without UK-based Scribblers owner Simon Rous, who has taken care of all printing, stocking, and shipping logistics. It was he who suggested we call the workbook “Learn Modern Calligraphy with a Cup of Tea” — it gives the packet a nice, British spin!

When Simon received the first lot of workbooks from the printer, he sent one to me. It took about a week and a half to arrive from the UK, and when I received it, my jaw dropped! It was just beautiful; text and images are crystal clear, and the calligraphy looks like it was written straight on the packet rather than printed.

Aesthetics, however, come second to functionality. The big question is: can the paper handle ink? Simon told me that he tested the paper out with Higgins Eternal ink and had good luck. When I received my workbook, I used Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay ink and also had excellent results!

The paper doesn’t allow ink to bleed at all, so it’s perfect for practicing on!

You might wonder what differences exist between the Kaitlin Style Scribblers Edition calligraphy workbook and the downloadable Kaitlin Style Premium worksheet PDF. Well, the main difference is the most obvious: the workbook is already printed and ready to be written on, while the worksheet PDF is intended for instant DIY printing at home. The workbook is size A4 (standard European size, 8.27″ x 11.69″ or 210 mm x 297 mm), while the worksheet set prints as standard US letter size (8.5″ x 11″ or 216 mm x 279 mm).

The other differences are small, but worthy of noting. First of all, there’s the neat watercolor illustration on the front. To create it, I borrowed a vintage teacup and saucer set from my mother, and I used it as a reference to get the form right. Then, I came up with a little image to put on the teacup, drew a teabag tag, and used walnut ink to make some flourishes around the teacup. If you’re wondering, “Why the tea theme?”, it’s because Simon is sending along a little sachet of tea with all workbook orders within the UK. (Unfortunately, we determined that tea may have trouble getting through customs as an arguably agricultural item; so international workbook orders will not contain a tea sachet).

Secondly, there’s a “Common Calligraphy Problems and Their Solutions” page at the very back of the workbook. Most of the problems/solutions have been outlined on the TPK blog in various posts, but it’s nice to have the page right in front of you for reference without having to search through the blog!

The final difference involves various small edits that have been made to adapt the Kaitlin Style worksheet into this readymade workbook format. You may notice variations in instructions, wording, or titles if you already own the printable version of the worksheet.

While I have always been proud of the Learn Calligraphy for a Latté worksheet PDFs because they enable a learner to instantly print off practice pages as many times as he or she needs to, I think that the Scribblers Edition workbook does a good job of providing ample practice space. The workbook features four pages of blank practice pages in the middle; if you’d like, you can pull them out and use them for general practice.

Following the workbook’s release a couple of weeks ago, I have received a couple of questions from readers that I think are important to answer in this post. For ease of reading, I am addressing them in bullet points below:

Q: Does Scribblers (which is based in the UK) ship internationally, e.g. to the US?

A: Yes! Simon is happy to ship worldwide.

Q: Can I buy these workbooks from a vendor in the US?

A: Because this is a special Scribblers edition, the workbooks only ship from Scribblers in the UK.

Q: Should I buy the calligraphy workbook if I already own the printable Kaitlin Style Calligraphy Worksheet?

A: It’s totally up to you! The content is similar, so if you’re happy with your current printable worksheet, then it’s not necessary to purchase the workbook.

Q: Can I take the Kaitlin Style video course using the Scribblers Edition Workbook instead of the Kaitlin Style printable worksheet?

A: You can, but remember that the pages won’t line up with the page numbers that I reference in the lessons. The word practice is also different.

If you have any more questions, I am happy to answer them or relay them to Simon if necessary! For now, I’d just like to thank you for humoring my little show-and-tell of this beautiful workbook. I’m very excited to be able to offer a printed version of one of the worksheet sets, and I am so pleased with how it turned out. 🙂

Thanks very, very much for reading TPK; I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

    Warmly,
