Three Free Artistic Desktop Wallpaper Bundles | The Postman's Knock

The three artistic desktop wallpaper bundles presented in today’s post were prompted by an eye-opening rendezvous through my hard drive. You see, I create a lot of projects for mail art and the TPK blog, then I scan them with the intention of doing “something” with them later. As I browsed through all the abandoned but cool scans laying dormant in the hard drive, I decided that “later” should be today, and “something” should be desktop and iPhone wallpapers for you! So, in today’s post, I invite you to choose your favorite desktop or smart phone wallpaper, download it (for free), and use it to make your time with your tech devices a little more inspiring.

    1. Artistic Desktop Wallpaper for the Francophile

    artistic_desktop_wallpapers3

This desktop wallpaper features four original France-inspired illustrations. One illustration shows a woman enjoying coffee at a quaint café after a morning at the boulangerie. An aproned waiter smilingly offers her more. Another illustration depicts a woman freshly finished shopping at a few boutiques. You can practically smell the tulips along the path she’s walking on! The last two illustrations embrace a floral theme. One encases the Arc de Triomphe in a flurry of blossoming roses, and the other shows a floral bundle with a fleur de lis and the French flag.

Parisian Woman Illustration | The Postman's Knock

A couple of years ago, I made the series of four illustrations featured in this desktop wallpaper for a “Springtime in Paris” contest hosted by Michael’s. The assignment was to create artwork that evokes spring in the City of Love, and I had a lot of fun coming up with subjects to draw! All four illustrations were created using a straight pen, a Nikko G nib, and sumi ink. There is also a printable stationery bundle in the TPK catalog featuring these illustrations.

If you took a TPK beginner calligraphy workshop in Berkeley or Brooklyn, then you probably recognize this Kaitlin Style calligraphy from your worksheet packet! I think it’s a fun phrase, and it becomes a little bit ironic when it’s written in whimsical script.

When you visit the Mediterranean, you can’t help but notice the gorgeous, rich-colored tiles that appear both indoors and outdoors! Those tiles were the inspiration for this desktop wallpaper, which will transport you to Italy every time you power on your computer or smart phone.

Hand-Painted Tiles Illustration Tutorial | The Postman's Knock

If you’ve been reading TPK for a while, you may have seen the Hand-Painted Tiles Tutorial from May of 2015. The tutorial details how to make tile-inspired watercolor artwork, and it offers project suggestions that incorporate illustrated tiles!

I hope that you are able to use at least one of the designs featured in today’s post! I like all three of these, and I am currently rocking the “Go ahead … make my day!” calligraphy on my laptop and the tiles design on my phone. Having an artistic wallpaper provides such a nice way to merge technology with watercolor and calligraphy! If you’re interested in making wallpaper from your own illustrations, you can check out the Digitizing Artwork and Calligraphy eCourse. I used the techniques from the course to make all three of the designs that you see today!

Thanks very much for reading TPK, and have a fantastic weekend!

    Warmly,
