A Belated Mother's Day Giveaway + Printable Recipe
Happy (belated) Mother's Day 2019! Today's newsletter brings you a few digital gifts to celebrate. First: a Mother's Day giveaway! Second: a hand-written printable recipe for a sumptuous dessert. Third, and perhaps best, a photo of a baby covered in chocolate!
A Mother's Day Giveaway
Now that I'm a mom, the thing I value most in life is balance. I absolutely love spending time with Remy (and Hernán, a.k.a. Dad)! However, a regular focus on my other loves -- like learning, writing, drawing, and cooking -- keeps my mental health and mothering skills sharp!
One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself is learning something new. It's gratifying to soak up new knowledge and watch yourself become more proficient at something! So, I want to celebrate my first Mother's Day with you by conducting a giveaway. The winner will receive a "scholarship" to the Beginner's Modern Calligraphy Online Course!
I'm going to send the winner of this giveaway all the supplies that he or she needs in order to take the online course!
The winner will also receive all the necessary course supplies, including:
A printed version of the course worksheet
Straight pen + Nikko G nib
Sumi ink + glass container
Vintage cotton cleaning cloth
The giveaway is open internationally and will end on Sunday, May 27th, at 2:00 PM MDT. The winner will be notified via email and mentioned in the Monday, May 28th, newsletter!
Being More Sociable
Since before Remy was born, I've been wanting to be better about answering blog comments and being more present on social media. I remember that when I first started the blog, I was terrified of what people would have to say! Would they think I was silly for putting myself and my work "out there"?
Over the years, I've been so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful people can be. Maybe I just have gotten lucky, but all the comments on the TPK blog and social media have been so supportive, kind, and helpful! And yet, I never managed my time well enough to answer 95% of the comments. So, I recently started setting aside 30 minutes a day to treat myself to responding to Facebook, Instagram, and blog comments. I always feel uplifted when I'm finished! Just a note to let you know that I see what you're saying, and it makes my day to answer your questions or see your kind words!
As part of this belated Mother's Day celebration newsletter, I want to give you a dessert recipe that we've been absolutely loving. It satisfies a sweet tooth and is more wholesome/healthy than your average chocolate pudding! Remy is a huge fan, though -- admittedly -- that doesn't count for much because Remy also eats dirt with gusto. So, maybe it will mean more if I tell you that Hernán and I also think it's amazing!
Alas, I'm not a food blogger, so I don't have a gorgeous styled photo of the pudding. This is what I have instead! ;)
I wrote out the recipe for you, and I hope you can print it, put it in a recipe binder, and enjoy! My mom gave me the original recipe several years ago, and I've made tweaks over time, like the subtraction of coconut oil and the addition of vanilla extract!
You can click here to download + print this recipe. If you make it, let me know what you think! My tip? Use high-quality ingredients (good cocoa translates into a very tasty pudding), and serve with fresh raspberries or strawberries!
I hope that you enjoyed today's newsletter, and that you can benefit from the giveaway and the pudding recipe! Thanks very much for reading TPK, and have a fantastic week!
