Solve This Month's Riddle, Win a TPK Calligraphy Kit!
Just a forewarning: I'm geeking out about the TPK Supplies Shop in this newsletter. I am having *so much fun* with it! Additionally, we've got a riddle for you to solve. Figure it out, and you might win a TPK Modern Calligraphy Starter Kit!
Curating the TPK Supplies Shop
Full disclosure: I am having an absolute blast with the TPK Supplies Shop! In case you missed it, the Supplies Shop is new: before last month, I only offered digital goods. The prospect of selling physical supplies was incredibly intimidating! I needed to source the supplies, figure out shipping, find help ... it just seemed like a lot.
Are you a fan of sumi ink? I've got several 6 oz. bottles all ready to go!
If there's one thing that motherhood has taught me, though, it's that you can't be afraid to take on new challenges. Slowly, the TPK Supplies Shop has come together ... and it continues to grow! Next month, I'll have different ink colors, an additional kind of straight pen, and Brause Rose nibs, among other items! For now, I have fun and unique goodies like stone handle letter openers, pressed glass "art water" cups, and hand-adjusted oblique pens.
Oh! And exciting news: Rodger Mayeda has agreed to teach Ana and I how to fit oblique pens for Brause EF66 nibs. Keep an eye out for those pens at the end of this month!
The Postwoman and the Calligraphy Kit
Every day, somebody from TPK goes to the post office ... and it's usually Geni (short for "Geneva"; say "Jenny"). Geni switches off with Aiden to help me with packaging, shipping, and stocking! The people at our post office here in South Boulder are kind and enthusiastic, and they were so curious about the "The Postman's Knock" packages coming in that they Googled TPK.
Meet Geni! I took this photo of her compiling calligraphy kits yesterday.
As it turns out, their Googling led to them becoming instant fans. When Geni went to the post office on Thursday, one of the workers there asked, "Is my package in there?!" And it was! I had noticed a local order for a calligraphy kit, but I had no idea it was *that* local! It's been fun to get to know the people at the post office, and I'm excited that they're up for learning calligraphy!
This calligraphy kit is small but mighty: it's been inspiring people everywhere to learn calligraphy! I have gotten such a kick out of shipping it to several US states, Australia, the UK, and Japan!
Riddle of the Month
The stakes are high if you solve this month's riddle: the winner will receive a TPK Calligraphy Starter Kit, a $75 value! Ana made this riddle much more difficult than the last one -- see if you can solve it. :)
No, I'm not famous. Why do you ask?
Oh, how'd it come to look like that?
Well, I always loved my mother's hand
those loops and lines were never bland
See, the way you write it tells a story.
Who are you in all your scribbled glory?
But don't be fooled -- it wasn't easy,
to find a style that really pleased me.
It was scribbles, loops, and letters astray
'til I discovered TPK.
I was hopeless. I thought for sure
'Til I read How to _______ ____ _________.
Several people pointed out that choosing a winner based on time isn't fair (we all receive this newsletter at different times), and I agree! So, the deadline to submit your answer is midnight MDT (Denver, CO, timezone) this evening. We will randomly choose one winner from the pool of correct answers, and that person will receive a happy email tomorrow afternoon!
A Quick Overview of What I'm Working On
Now that I'm finished with the Improve Your Handwriting Course, I'm moving on to making a replacement for Amazing Envelopes for a Latte. The replacement eBook will contain all my tips and tricks for making gorgeous envelope with any calligraphy or hand-lettering style!
The new eBook will share my tricks for centering envelopes, provide envelope spacing templates, and provide you with exclusive mail art tutorials, among other things!
Stay tuned ... I want to have the project finished by the end of October so you can use it to make your holiday envelopes. :)
Thanks so much for reading TPK, and for your support as I branch out into offering supplies! I count myself lucky to be part of the TPK community, and I hope that you know you can always suggest tutorials and blog post topics or reach out with questions. Have a wonderful week!
