What’s your favorite “flavor” of nib?

As I was making this chart for my upcoming book, I discovered a few unexpected favorites: the Gillott 303 and the Leonardt Principal were fun to write with! I have to say that I did *NOT* love the Hunt 101, which gave me a lot of grief — but I suspect I had a dud nib or I didn’t prep it enough.

My favorite nib remains the Brause EF66. It is to me what Harry Potter’s wand was to him ... comfortable, reliable, and capable. 🪄 I do use other nibs, though, depending on the project. For a recent wedding invitation suite, I used the Nikko G for tiny calligraphy and the Brause Rose for large calligraphy that needed a lot of contrast. That is to say, while I have a favorite, I’m open — and realistic that the Brause EF66 doesn’t work for all of my needs!
