It is my hope that this blog post will help you in developing the perfect gift for Mom — a printable recipe card template; complete with hand-written calligraphy and laurel branches. And by “Mom”, you don’t have to give it to your mom — maybe your daughter is a mother, maybe your friend is a mother — or maybe you’re a mother lover and want to gift it to your friend’s mother. {If you didn’t catch it, that’s a reference the Justin Timberlake/Andy Samberg music video.}
In all seriousness, this time of year is a very thoughtful one. This is the time when you need to sit down and think about gifts for friends and loved ones. People’s opinions will vary, of course, but to me, personally, it means a lot more when I can tell someone really put time and effort into making or choosing my gift. For example, every year, my friend Sara in Lawrence, Kansas, sends a big package of goodies. It’s always a random collection of things that remind me how much she remembers about my top loves in life; a package of tecchino, biscotti from the now-defunct Milton’s restaurant, a hand-made Christmas ornament, tea, chocolate, etc. {Hm. Yes, most of my top loves in life are food. I think I’m having an epiphany…}
I created this free recipe card template with the hope that you will print it out, fill in a few recipes {in your own handwriting}, stick them in a pretty binder, and give them to your mother {or a special mother you know} as a holiday gift — or, hey, if you’re reading this post-holiday season, give it to her as a birthday gift. I’d like to live vicariously through you since my own mother is a raw/vegan and the gift would probably be wasted on her since I don’t know a whole lot of recipes that fit that category {sorry, Mom}.
