This Watercolor Henna Cat Illustration Tutorial is actually a bit of a throwback! I took the photos for it five years ago as part of a guest post for Inkstruck Studio. However, I recently noticed that the guest post pictures no longer show up on the Inkstruck site! It really is a neat tutorial, perfect for any artistic cat lover, so I decided to rewrite the post here on TPK. You may notice that today’s photos are a bit different from those that you normally see on the blog because I took them so long ago!

7 Tips for Making Calligraphy and Art on the Go
Every year, Hernán and I go on a trip to explore somewhere new. This year’s trip was to Naples, Barcelona, and Paris — and we wanted to pack extra light. I feel the joy that comes with that when I smell pine boughs, see holiday decorations from my childhood, and eat tasty treats. The flip side of that is the frantic race to get everything done before you take time off! There are also stressful gift lists to contend with and, for many people, the prospect of dealing with family members who aren’t exactly our favorites. When the stress starts to get to you, hit the pause button and get out some art supplies.

Different Types of Paper
Yesterday, I was scouring my imagination {and my Pinterest} for blog post ideas, when suddenly a topic fell into my lap. A gracious reader, Martha, sent an email requesting a blog post comparing different types of paper. I found this to be a brilliant suggestion because the world of paper can be scary to navigate, especially if you’re a beginning artist, designer, or calligrapher! It can be difficult to know which type of paper to use for what, and even to understand the difference between certain papers.
