A Post Full of Giveaways | The Postman's Knock

My birthday is this week, so for the past few days, I’ve been mulling over what I want. And, really, the answer is nothing. The truth is, the older I get, the more I prefer giving gifts than receiving them! So, for my birthday, I’d like to give you something. Effectively, this is a post full of giveaways! Under the description of each giveaway item, you’ll see a Rafflecopter widget. Use it to enter the giveaway for each item that catches your eye. You don’t need a social media account to enter; if that’s the case, you can just use the “Answer a Question” option!

As with all TPK giveaways, every single one of these items is up for grabs to anyone regardless of country of residence; I am glad to ship internationally! Finally, all giveaways will end Tuesday, August 2nd, at 11:59 PM MDT. Winners will be emailed the next day, and the first names of winners will be displayed in this post on the Rafflecopter widgets.

    1. $50 Gift Certificate to Paper & Ink Arts (Two Winners)

A Post Full of Giveaways | The Postman's Knock

There will be two winners of this prize, which is a $50 gift certificate to Paper & Ink Arts! You can use your certificate to purchase anything that your heart desires, from paints to calligraphy pens to paper. You may enter the drawing for this prize below:

A Post Full of Giveaways | The Postman's Knock

If you’re a lover of metallics, then this palette will quickly become your most reached-for calligraphy supply! The process for using this palette for calligraphy is exactly the same as it is for the Finetec Golds; the only difference is the colors. You can see a bronze from the Finetec Pearl Colors palette here:

    5. Pen and Nib Set (Three Winners)

    1giveaway_blog_post-2

You can never have too many pens and nibs! This portion of the giveaway offers up a set that includes the following:

    • One Tachikawa T40 Straight Holder (you can read about it in this blog post)
    • One Hand-Turned Oblique Holder (you can read about it in this blog post)
    • A set of the following nibs: 2 Nikko Gs, 2 Brause EF66s, 2 Brause Roses, 2 Leonardt Principals
    • One Leonardt Nib Tin

    1giveaway_blog_post

I know you’ll love this set; I especially like pairing the Tachikawa T40 with the Brause EF66 nib to make Amy Style calligraphy with plenty of stroke contrast (shown above). To enter the giveaway for this nice little collection of pens and nibs, use the Rafflecopter widget below:

Never mind what I said I’d spend my Pen & Ink gift certificate on! I’d get the Slider Writer! Remember that set-up that used to cast a reflection on the paper to show the lines to write on? This looks a lot better–and I never did find one of those, anyway.

After I chose this music to accompany this reel, i After I chose this music to accompany this reel, it dawned on me: drawing a calligraphy medallion is like, well, Belle’s arc with the Beast.

At first, it’s a bit of a weird situation. Strange shapes, questionable structure, possibly some growling (à la “YOU WILL JOIN ME FOR DINNER. That’s not a request!”) when the inevitable ink smudge happens. You keep thinking, “I’m not sure why I’m doing this ... should I hop on Felipe and gallop away?” 🐎

But something shifts as the medallion starts to come to life. And when you finish that last detail and pull back, the music swells. Light bursts from your paper like it did from Beast’s digits as he transformed into a stunningly beautiful prince. ✨ You’re practically in a ballroom celebrating, and, wait, did your furniture just turn into an adoring crowd that’s celebrating your fortitude and skill?

(And now you know how my mind works 🧠 ... I love a good metaphor, no matter how weak it may be!)

To learn how to make a calligraphy medallion, just search for “calligraphy medallion” on the TPK site (link in bio). You’ll find both free Blog tutorials and detailed premium worksheets.

... I’ll show myself out now. 🙈
