Like many people, I spent a lot of time with a screen during the COVID quarantine. I did workout classes on an app, took a Spanish course via Zoom, and watched all of the Marvel movies. All of that screen time caused me to examine the courses on TPK in a new light! I wondered if there was a way to make them feel more engaging, like you’re right here with me. The answer, I believe, is yes; and I’ve spent the past four months re-designing the Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course as a result.
There are several differences between the previous version of the course and the new course. The new course is:
Like most creative people, it’s difficult for me to leave well enough alone. The previous version of the Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course had nearly 200 five star reviews, making it TPK’s most beloved learning resource. And yet: I developed this “itch” during the pandemic to redesign it. After months of work, I’m so excited about how the new videos and worksheet turned out!
I always want to ensure that you have access to the best learning resources, which is why I opted to redesign this course. Questions from the Lesson Discussion in the previous course version helped me enormously in making this course more effective! I also opted to use TPK’s two most popular calligraphy styles (Amy Style and Kaitlin Style) to make the course worksheet. This new course ends with a unit detailing how to write Copperplate calligraphy, which is something several beginners have asked me about over the years.
This course features six lessons, all of which have video instructions, homework, and worksheet integration. Each lesson ends with a short quiz. If you enroll, your access to the course will never expire! Whether you take a month to finish the course or a year, the content will be there for you.
If you enrolled in The Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course sometime before today, you have full access to the new course. Just visit your account, and you’ll see the “Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course” under “Printables + Video Courses”.
If you’re in the middle of taking the previous version of the course, rest assured that you still have access to those previous course videos, too. I don’t want to mess anyone up! The lesson videos for the previous version can be found under the lesson videos of the new version of the course. All previous course lesson titles are denoted with a “(Previous Course Version)”. The previous course content will be available until Friday, August 13th.ย
Before today, the Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course and the TPK calligraphy starter kit were two separate entities. I have redesigned both the kit and the course to work together to enhance anyone’s learning experience. These two items can stand alone: you don’t have to own the kit to take the course, and you don’t have to take the course if you own the kit. Put them together, though, and you’ve got a learning power duo!
This new version of TPK’s beginner’s course might be different from its predecessor, but one thing hasn’t changed: my commitment to helping you learn. I always answer Lesson Discussion questions within 24 hours, and I am always up for making changes in the course to make concepts clearer! Remember that there’s no such thing as a silly question: I’m always available to assist.
