Just after Halloween, I started working on coming up with content for this year’s edition of the Holiday Calligraphy Worksheet. I wanted it to be different from last year’s worksheet; something that would offer you all-new writing styles and a grand pièce de résistance at the end. I am quite happy with the result, which I’ll tell you about in this blog post!
This worksheet features seven different ways to write various holiday greetings. I won’t enumerate them here; you can find a list of the greetings in the worksheet product description. The goal of the calligraphy section of the worksheet is to take the guesswork out of writing calligraphy greetings. Many of the greetings in this worksheet feature embellishments that don’t appear in the Learn Calligraphy worksheets. These embellishments can help to make your calligraphy feel more festive!
Every greeting in the worksheet includes instructions, tips, and a section for practice. You’ll learn exactly how to write the greeting with a “training wheels” approach. The practice starts with a lot of guidance and help, and by the end of the page, you’ll be writing the greeting by yourself!
In addition to holiday greetings, the worksheet also includes four creative ways to write “2018”. This should come in handy as we head into the New Year! You can use the “2018” variations to make greeting cards, decorative tags for wine or champagne, or themed bullet journal pages.
One of my favorite things about this worksheet is its traceability. If you’re in a time crunch, place your greeting of choice on a light box. Put a light-colored blank greeting card, gift tag, or envelope over the greeting. Then, simply use your dip pen or the faux calligraphy technique to trace directly over the greeting.
The tracing method provides a shortcut that helps you to create beautiful holiday paper goods in a matter of minutes! It’s a fantastic technique if you’re pressed for time because it eliminates the need to draw and erase pencil guidelines.
The worksheet concludes with five pages of instructions over how to make a gorgeous flourished snowflake calligraphy medallion. You’ll find a step-by-step process that will teach you how to make your own snowflake calligraphy medallions of any size!
This calligraphy medallion looks particularly fetching on the back of envelopes. Of course, it would also be a welcome addition to gift tags, holiday cards, and sketchbook journal pages, among other things.

It’s a downloadable, printable product, so make sure you have some high-quality paper (I like 32# laserjet) to print it on! You’ll also need a straight or oblique calligraphy pen — whichever you prefer — and your favorite nib and ink.
The worksheet is available for a nominal cost, which helps me to recoup the time and effort that I put into making it. That said, I like to make sure that I have a free basic alternative available for paid printables. In this case, that alternative is the one-page free holiday calligraphy exemplar.
