Calligraphy starter kit dimensions are 9.75″ long x 7″ wide x 2.25″ tall (24.75 cm x 18 cm x 5.75 cm).
The self-paced Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course is every bit as effective as my in-person calligraphy workshops. There are no time or demonstration constraints, so I was able to include absolutely everything that you need to know! On film, I am able to communicate concepts from different shooting angles, and you can pause and re-watch videos as needed. If you don’t quite understand how to do something, there’s a “Discussion” portion under each lesson where you can ask questions. Lessons include a short quiz and homework assignments. Note that this lesson includes a 10-page printable workbook that is separate from the course workbook. If you choose to complete this lesson, you will need a printer.
The course ends with a short video explaining your post-course homework. The total viewing time for this course is approximately 4.5 hours, but I’d recommend allocating two months to do everything that you’re asked to do in the course.

I have a bit of a crazy schedule and the fact that I can reference the amazing videos whenever I need to, and go back to a specific place, pause, or just watch for a refresher is AWESOME. Lindsey is a real and down to earth person who makes is seem like a friend is teaching you, and I have told many others about this course and how fun it’s been to go through. Can’t wait until I’m ready for the intermediate class!

In the past I’ve tried calligraphy using dip pens from my local arts/crafts supply store but never had great results. This kit had everything I needed to really up my game and get the results I had hoped for. I’m still learning (the free drill pages really help) and am making progress. Having the right tools (and guidance) is key!

I started on my modern calligraphy journey in the summer of 2021 through bullet journaling and using brush pens. While it was enjoyable it didn’t last long and soon I turned my eye to learning actual modern calligraphy with a pointed pen. On a whim, I purchased a beginner kit from Speedball with no real research. I found myself frustrated and feeling lost. I went online and after hours of research, I found TPK. Low and behold, I was spending time reading Lindsey’s blogs and reviews about her video courses. I decided to take the plunge and purchase worksheets, new supplies, and the Beginner’s Course to further my journey in learning modern calligraphy. I have not completed this course and love that it has a lifetime viewing. I’ve referred to it many times and it truly is the best I’ve found. Easy to follow (I’m a lefty as well!), and covers everything you need to progress well with practice. Lots of inspiration and detail!!! I highly recommend this for a beginner or even those who just need to brush up!
