I am sure that there are a {very} small handful of calligraphers out there blessed with an uncanny ability to space correctly 99% of the time without the aid of a ruler. I am not one of them. No matter what type of calligraphy I am creating, I use some spacing method to ensure that my envelopes turn out perfect. Since it’s a service that my clients are paying for, I would feel uncomfortable not giving them my best work!

Line Drawing Tutorial
Lately I’ve been hooked on making thumbprint guest “books”. I love the idea of a guest book that is not a book at all, but a work of art. I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who displays guest books for a year — maybe two — on the coffee table, and then it {lovingly} goes into storage. I prefer the idea of a framable piece of art that will be displayed for decades to come.

Vintage Stamp Collages on Envelopes
Lately, I have been collaborating with a woman on her daughter’s wedding invitation suite. We have been having so much fun going over details and adding last-minute elements like washi tape and sashes. Then, the topic of stamps came up. When I suggested vintage stamp collages on the outer envelopes, she was both intrigued and confused. I found myself trying to explain to her why I love vintage stamp collages, and why they are “in” right now, both for wedding invitations and regular correspondence. I couldn’t quite come up with an answer as to why I like vintage stamp collages {it’s sort of like asking me why I like chocolate — I just do!}, but after some thought, I did form some hypotheses as to why everyone is jumping on the vintage stamp collage bandwagon.
