Geni (say: “Jenny”) is one of my helpers here at TPK. When you receive an order from the Supplies Shop, chances are she packaged it up! She also helps me to categorize emails, come up with blog post topics, and brainstorm new worksheet ideas. The other day, Geni brought over her bullet journals on a whim, and I have to tell you: I was blown away! I’ve always wanted to keep a bullet journal, but my motivation fizzles after a couple of weeks. Looking through Geni’s journals made me excited to start tracking things and making lists in earnest — all with a dash of artistry — and I thought you might feel the same if you could see them! With Geni’s gracious blessing, I took several photos of her bullet journal pages, and I’m sharing them here today.
Keeping Track Bullet Journal Ideas
1. Pixel Mood Tracker
Geni’s “pixel tracker” kept track of her morning and afternoon moods. You can see that she wrote a key at the top, then there are months on the X axis (morning/afternoon), and days on the Y axis.
2. No Eating Out
Whether you’re looking to abstain from or pursue doing something daily, this simple checkbox concept can motivate you to stay on track!
3. Sleep Tracker
If you struggle with getting enough sleep, this is a great idea!
4. Good Habits
Are there certain things you want encourage yourself to do daily? This is a great layout concept if so!
5. Run Log
Whether you’re a marathoner or just a casual runner (or walker!), a run log could be a great way to encourage yourself to be active any given month.
6. Purchase Goal
If you’ve got your eye on a certain something, try making a page like this one!
7. Mini Food Journal
The idea of food journaling repels me because it seems like such a commitment. When it’s all laid out on one page like this, though, it doesn’t seem that difficult! I love how Geni gave herself a theme (“no processed foods”), and stuck with that theme for one week.
List Bullet Journal Ideas
1. Alternatives to Boredom
Who doesn’t find themselves with nothing to do every once in a while? This is a great list that helps to combat boredom with productive and/or good-for-you activities.
2. Interesting Facts About Me
This list is just a fun one to put together. It would be fun to brainstorm special facts about yourself like the ones Geni wrote down here!
3. Meal Ideas
I struggle a lot with yummy dish ideas, so I’m definitely going to make a list like this one.
4. Date Ideas
I love that Geni made two lists: one for day, and one for night. A super cool concept to help you spend quality time with your significant other (or a friend/family member)!
5. Meet Me
It’s fun to step back and make an introduction page. I could see this sort of self-awareness coming in handy when you meet new people!
6. Travel Itinerary
Got a trip on the horizon? Plan it out in your bullet journal! You can draw a map, as Geni did, then write down activities you plan to do during your travels.
Memories Bullet Journal Ideas
1. Travel Journals
I wish I would have thought to do this on all the trips I’ve gone on! Geni gave each of her days in Peru a square, and each square contains a brief summary of what she did that day.
This European/Canadian travel diary features the flags from various countries.
2. Season Highlights
I love the idea of summing up a season via highlights! It would be great to have this list of things that happened and when they happened, especially since years tend to blur together as you age.
3. Yearly Highlights
In the same spirit of the seasonal highlights, I love the idea of making a bullet journal layout that records occurrences throughout the year.
Aspirations Bullet Journal Ideas
1. Monthly Theme + Goal
Focusing on one thing per month is a great way to achieve goals! Geni made a theme for September (“self care”), a to-do list for the month, and additional ideas of good things to do.
2. Yearly Resolutions
I’m sure we’ve all made a page like this, either in a bullet journal or elsewhere! Keeping your resolutions in a place where you can see them often — like a bullet journal — might help you tackle them, just as Geni did.
3. Travel Bucket List
Looking at this list makes me want to whip up one myself … there are so many places to see!
Just Because Bullet Journal Ideas
1. Inspirational Quotes
Most people use their bullet journals daily, so it makes sense to fill it up with quotes that inspire you!
2. Washi Tape Art
3. Little Doodles
You can make any page pop with elegant little doodles! Try doodling wherever you need to fill up negative space on a page.
4. Powerful Phrases
Positive little phrases are wonderful to pepper throughout a bullet journal. Who knows — words like these may help you to get back on track if you see them on a sour day!
Bullet Journal Materials
As you fill your notebook, you can add to its Index.
Geni swears by Zebra Mildliner pens for adding color to her bullet journal!
Some washi tape, scissors, and regular pens are also a necessity.
Once you’ve got all of your supplies, all you need is inspiration! I hope that you found plenty of that in this article.
I’d like to thank Geni for letting me share her bullet journal with you. A bullet journal can be a very personal thing, so I’m appreciative that she opened hers up to me! I hope that you’re as inspired by her pages as I am. After seeing them, I am chomping at the bit to go on a list rampage, whip up a meal plan, and keep track of good habits!
Thanks very much for reading, and enjoy the rest of your week!
