I’ve tried a lot of ways to store ink over the years, and this little glass jar is the one I keep coming back to. Here’s why I like it:
Whether you’re storing custom-mixed colors or transferring ink from a bottle that isn’t great for dip pen calligraphy, this jar helps your setup feel more cohesive and organized.
While the gold screw-top lid on this jar seals tightly, I wouldn’t recommend packing it in your luggage for air travel — as with any ink container, changes in cabin pressure can lead to messy leaks. If you’re planning to get creative on the go, consider using the
watercolor calligraphy technique
with a dry watercolor palette once you reach your destination.
That said, this jar is perfect for home use. Whether you’re storing your favorite bottled ink, a custom-mixed color, or a powdered pigment you’ve mixed with water, the jar adds a bit of charm and cohesion to your creative space. I have bought numerous things from Lindsey’s shop and everything has always ben wonderful!! I recently purchased the glass jars for ink and they are AWESOME i just ordered a couple more 🙂 I have also downloaded numerous worksheets she sends us via email and those are always so helpful for projects!!! I have maybe 6 of these and will likely get even more! I love the size and stability. I’ve now traveled twice with these, and, using Lindsey’s tips to minimize the possibility of spilling, and….they have not leaked on either trip. You won’t go wrong with these for mixing gouache, holding Sumi ink, or any other liquid, really!

I’ve used a few different jars that I thought would work just as well or better but I should have trusted Lindsay’s expertise. I have two of these and they are by far my best ink jars – less issues with leakage and never have any trouble opening or closing even if a little ink dries around the edges of the lid.
