Three years ago, I decided to try making a calligraphy worksheet. It was the first worksheet that I ever made, and I used a calligraphy style that I called “Flourish Formal”, a style with ample curls and embellishments. Last year, I started to notice just how outdated the worksheet was … it just didn’t measure up to the quality of later worksheet sets, both functionally and aesthetically.

For the past few months, I have been working to make sure that this calligraphy worksheet is the best yet! Today, I am very pleased to introduce you to the all new, vastly improved Flourish Formal Calligraphy Worksheet set. It’s a gorgeous set that will teach you how to create an artistic and awesome calligraphy style!

    About Flourish Formal Style Calligraphy

Flourish Formal Style calligraphy was the first calligraphy style that I ever developed. It was intended to appeal to elegant wedding clients, and I used it on several projects like this 2014 wedding suite.

Over the past three years, the style has become more polished. Clean lines, confident curves, and connected strokes are now a hallmark of Flourish Formal calligraphy.

I love using this style to enhance formal events, but it can also dress down. If you’re in the mood to make playful mail art with a dose of elegance, Flourish Formal Style calligraphy is a great go-to!

In short, the Flourish Formal is an impressive calligraphy style that you can use for any project. Wedding envelopes, place cards, calligraphy art for your home, and casual envelopes for pen pals will all benefit from it!

    Features of This Worksheet Set

This calligraphy worksheet set includes three sections: the Core Worksheet, Intensive Alphabet Practice, and Intensive Word Practice. You can read exactly what is included in all three sections in the worksheet product description, but I’ll provide a brief overview here! The Core Worksheet will teach you everything you need to know to get started. In it, you’ll begin with faux calligraphy (calligraphy created with a regular pen), then transition into using a dip pen.

This worksheet set features something new as far as TPK worksheets go: warm up drills. Before you start writing letters, you will fill out the drills section to get the hang of different strokes and nib pressure exertion.

If you have trouble writing any letters, you have the opportunity for plenty of extra practice in the Intensive Alphabet Practice section. This section provides you with guided practice so you can really get the hang of writing “problem” letters!

The Intensive Word Practice offers the same opportunity, but with words. Faint guidelines will help you to write a word over and over until you’re comfortable creating it on your own!

What You Need to Get Started

To learn Flourish Formal Style calligraphy, you’ll need a few supplies. They are:

If this is your first time using a dip pen, read The Beginner’s Guide to Modern Calligraphy before you get started. It will teach you the basics like how to write with a dip pen! (Later this year, I will be adding a video course to this worksheet set. For now, though, The Beginner’s Guide is a good place to start.)

Finally, I’d like to add that you should have the latest version of your PDF reader (the program that opens PDF files on your computer) to properly view the worksheet set.
