If you’ve ever wanted to create eye-catching, polished hand lettering, this course will walk you through the process step by step. Over the span of six thoughtfully designed lessons (more than nine hours of video instruction), you’ll learn the techniques, tools, and creative strategies you need to develop a lettering style that’s entirely your own. Along the way, you’ll pick up tips for spacing, embellishment, and composition that you can apply to any creative project.
You don’t need anything fancy to start! Begin with a pencil, eraser, ruler, light-colored paper, and any pen. As you work through the lessons, you might decide to add optional tools like Micron pens, colored pencils, a white gel pen, or even watercolor and a pointed pen for special effects.
Each lesson includes several instructional videos and a recorded class discussion where common questions are answered and extra tips are shared. Many lessons include a quiz and/or a helpful PDF to enhance your learning experience and reinforce important concepts. I recommend pacing yourself at one lesson every 7–10 days — enough time to practice and build momentum without rushing.

The TPK Premium Discord is a friendly, supportive space for asking questions, posting photos, and connecting with other students. Non-members can still ask questions within the course discussion area.

I definitely recommend this course to anyone… from no matter the experience you have. I came here having a decent knowledge about modern calligraphy and learned a lot in every single lesson…. I have taken a considerable amount of classes online, but with Lindsey as a teacher sometimes you feel like you are taking a one on one class, not a group class. This is a great course where Lindsey gives clear, step by step instructions and explanations on the art of hand lettering. By breaking the process down into manageable steps you are being equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to take this art form off in your own direction. I didn’t think I was “arty” enough to do this but now I feel confident to have a go at projects and explore the numerous possibilities of hand lettering. Lindsey is not only a skilled and creative artist, she is an outstanding teacher. I loved this course for three reasons:
1. I learned an amazing number of styles and techniques;
2. Materials were well prepared, presented and interactive (learn by doing). Hence the videos held my attention;
3. The assignments challenged me to try new things and use materials in new ways to me.
This course left me excited about everything from addressing envelopes to lettering gifts for others. It also put me in a creative space. I’m eager to try new lettering styles, build new alphabets, use ink, markers/gel pens and paint in new ways and put them on new things like leather, mugs, clear and colored glass and more. I found myself looking at signs, labels, TV, magazines and advertisements in ways. I notice what works and what does not and I find ideas to adopt.

Doing the 101 Hand Lettering Course has been exponential in star quality. From the beginning to the end Lindsey has explained, shown, encouraged and advised in all aspects of creating hand lettered pieces. Making this course available as a “hands on” class has given depth and more understanding to the processes of being creative.

Lindsey takes you through six clear lessons that start at “base camp” and gently, effectively lead you “up the mountain.” She appropriately stretches you in each lesson, never letting you feel “oxygen deprived” as you scale new heights in your hand lettering journey. Each lesson covers something new, and even if you feel like “there is no way I can do that!” I can promise you can! Lindsey does a great job of making sure you have all the tools you need to begin or enhance your hand lettering abilities, giving practical tips and advice in each lesson. I can’t recommend this course enough!
