You can download this “Eight Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs” printable for free by clicking here.

Arrows can add stylish embellishment to just about any paper good. Mail art, bullet journals, and sketchbooks all benefit from a hand-drawn arrow or two! Today, I’ve got free printable that shows you how to make eight artistic arrows that you can use on a variety of projects.

About the Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs Printable

Today’s printable presents you with eight arrow design concepts to use and modify as much as you want to! Each arrow concept presents you with four steps to create that particular arrow. Follow the steps, and you’ll be able to draw the arrow.

Eight Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs (Free Printable) | The Postman's Knock

I created this printable with the hope that you will feel inspired to draw and experiment! Even if you don’t have a lot of confidence in your artistic abilities, you will find that many of the arrows are a breeze to create.

Next time you have an envelope to decorate or you want to do some doodling, grab a pen and try out one of the arrow mini-tutorials on the printable! You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much artistic personality the arrow adds to your project.

I love hand-drawn arrows so much that I used them as letter dividers in the Circus Lettering Exemplar.

Tips for Creating Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs

Every great arrow starts with a pencil draft line. You’ll begin any arrow with a faint pencil line, which will give you a good foundation to work off of. (It’s easiest to draw straight lines with the help of a ruler.)

Eight Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs (Free Printable) | The Postman's Knock

Once you have your pencil lines, you can draw over them with a pen. I alternate between using a dip pen + ink and gel pens (like Gelly Roll) to draw arrows.

Eight Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs (Free Printable) | The Postman's Knock

The two arrows shown below are Steampunk Arrows from the arrow designs printable.

If you plan to create several arrows side by side, try mixing up the styles! The Steampunk Arrows correspond beautifully with the Universe Arrows in the envelope below.

Eight Hand-Drawn Arrow Designs (Free Printable) | The Postman's Knock
You can mix and match just about any combination of arrows on the printable.

While arrows can serve as freestanding artwork, I like them best on mail art. Arrows symbolize motion, so they provide a nod to the distance the envelope will travel. Furthermore, arrows always serve as the perfect contrast to whimsical calligraphy like the Kaitlin Style address below:

Regardless of whether you consider yourself an artist or not, I hope you’ll give at least a few of the hand-drawn arrow designs a try.

Thanks very much for reading, and enjoy the printable!

    Warmly,

(Venus flytraps are apparently no joke.) Visit the TPK Blog to see my process — I love to start with a Procreate draft and take it from there.

This is a great little contest, and, while it runs through December, it’s *especially* fun to work on this time of year. 👻 My kid and I both thoroughly enjoyed making our masterpieces! If you find yourself with some time in the next couple of months, make your own envelope ... there will be more than one winner! 🥇

Over the years, we’ve nicknamed ourselves Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, Lucy and Ethel… you get the idea. That familiarity definitely comes through in our chats.
