  • Nikko G nib – the most approachable calligraphy nib for most beginners
  • Brause EF66 nib – a wonderful little nib that will give you dramatic stroke contrast
  • Nib tin – to safely store your nibs
  • Pearly turquoise straight pen with universal insert that will fit most calligraphy nibs
  • Wooden oblique pen with a flange that I hand-adjust to fit the Nikko G nib like a glove
  • “Art water” cup – to store the water that you use to clean nibs throughout writing sessions
  • Tightly woven cleaning cloth to wipe off your nibs throughout and after your writing sessions
  • Yasutomo sumi ink (2 oz.) – A velvety Japanese sumi ink that’s great for any skill level

    This starter kit is not just for beginners! I have been practicing calligraphy using all of Lindsey’s wonderful videos and templates for a few years now, so initially I thought I wouldnt need to buy a kit, gorgeous though it looked. But when the new kit came out I could not resist! It has been packed with love, care and attention to detail that makes me want to treasure the empty box, the specially printed tissue paper and the gorgeous wee gold card from The Postman’s Knock! The tools inside the box are treasures, and I see everything I purchase from TPK as a potential heirloom! If you are considering purchasing this kit – do it! You will be delighted, like I was.

    This is what I bought when I started calligraphy. I had zero knowledge and no experience. How fun it was to get the pretty box and all what I needed to start the beginner’s calligraphy course. I still use most of the things in the box after more than a. year. I kept the cute box and I am using it to store calligraphy stuff. It was nice they are all there to start out!
