Description

This self-paced Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course is every bit as effective as my in-person calligraphy workshops. There are no time or demonstration constraints, so I was able to include absolutely everything that you need to know! On film, I am able to communicate concepts from different shooting angles, and you can pause and re-watch videos as needed. If you don’t quite understand how to do something, there’s a “Discussion” portion under each lesson where you can ask questions. Lessons include a short quiz and homework assignments. Here’s the course layout, including video durations (minutes/seconds):

Lesson 1: Preparing to Create Pointed Pen Calligraphy

  • Video: Creating Faux Calligraphy (20:03)

Lesson 2: Pointed Pen Calligraphy Supplies

The course ends with a short video explaining your post-course homework. The total viewing time for this course is approximately 4.5 hours, but I’d recommend allocating two months to do everything that you’re asked to do in the course.

Once you purchase this listing, you will be given full access to the course videos and worksheet set! Please note that you must have or create an account on TPK to take the course. If you do not have an account, you can easily create one during the checkout process (or create one now). You won’t find a better calligraphy course anywhere. What I like, is that I can go at my own pace. Buying the beginner’s box has everything you need to begin. I didn’t have to run around to find the things I needed. Lindsey explains so well , it’s easy to understand. I also appreciate the contact she has with us. It’s nice to know she answers us when we have a question. Also for me, when I write it fells meditative, very relaxing. If you need a relaxing hobby, this is it. I love beauty and calligraphy is beauty. I love everything Lindsey does. I also made some cards using calligraphy and many other projects she has on her site. I can’t say enough about this Beginner’s Calligraphy Course. It’s the best. You won’t regret it.

What a value! I did an intensive research and looked at all the online courses to learn dip pen calligraphy. TPK’s was the best around! I learned all the basics I needed, and how to write both upper and lower case letters. By the end of this course, I was addressing envelopes and making cards for friends and family who were all impressed with my newly acquired skill. I love Lindsey’s pace and how she makes it a calming experience despite some of the challenges all beginners must conquer. It has been almost 2 years since I signed up for this course. I still refer to the material every time I use a dip pen. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Wow. Where to begin. I have a bit of background in broad edged pen and formal pointed pen, but love the spontaneous, artsy look and feel of modern calligraphy too. So, when I came across the TPK site, I thought it might be a good place to start. Boy, was it ever! I can only repeat what so many others have said here. Lindsey is a natural born teacher. She has the welcoming warmth of the best along with an organized step-by-step style that makes everything easy to follow. I also appreciate that the courses are yours for life; you can learn at your own pace; return again and again as needed; and she’s available to answer questions. Also, the price is right. Whenever I get into a conversation with someone who’s interested in calligraphy, the first thing I do is recommend they check out TPK. It totally opens the door!

This is a great course for someone learning calligraphy. I love the cheat sheets provided as a quick reminder of how the letters look. The videos are step-by-step instructions for writing calligraphy. The practice sheets are an immense help. It is an all encompassing course that thoughtfully laid out a lesson plan for anyone wanting to learn this artform. Highly recommend!

Lindsey is a fantastic teacher, and I highly recommend her print and video courses to anyone who wants to learn any form of calligraphy, hand lettering, or brush lettering. She is not only very generous with her time and expertise (I can’t even count the number of times I emailed her to ask questions, and always received a prompt and very helpful response), but she also offers all of her fantastic resources at an unbelievably low price. You will not find high quality calligraphy instruction anywhere for any amount near Lindsey’s pricing. When I first became interested in calligraphy and brush lettering, I looked for online instruction and was shocked and revolted to find rates of $500+ for a beginner’s course! I am so glad that I kept searching and found Lindsey and TPK. She keeps her prices low so that as many people as possible can have access to calligraphy instruction, and she is an absolute angel for doing so. I personally have had some difficult times over the past couple of years and have had to take a hiatus from learning calligraphy, but when I was learning and practicing daily, I made remarkable progress by following Lindsey’s courses and instruction. In the space of about 8 months, I went from shaky, blotchy chicken scratch to what I considered to be calligraphy that I was truly proud of. A relative happened to look at one of my practice pages that I had filled with song lyrics in German (a great way to practice calligraphy and language learning at the same time!), and told me that my calligraphy was beautiful and asked me how long I had been doing it. She was amazed when I told her I had only started learning 8 months prior. I had no calligraphy instruction apart from Lindsey’s beginner and intermediate courses. It is a lot of work, and you need to practice daily to keep improving, but if you’ve been dreaming of being able to create beautiful calligraphy, the time invested is worth it. If I can do it, so can you! Even though I’ve had to take a break, I still purchase every video course and worksheet set that Lindsey releases, because I know the value of the resources she provides, and I know it will be here waiting for me when I’m ready to come back. Thanks again for everything, Lindsey! You’re the best!

This course is wonderful! Anyone out there who’s on the fence about enrolling in this course, go for it – I truly think you’ll be happy that you did! Lindsey is an amazing teacher and does a very good job of thoroughly explaining the whole process of pointed pen calligraphy. It’s also great that you can stop and start as your schedule allows. Thank you so much for all of the hard work you’ve invested in teaching others Lindsey!

I have really enjoyed the beginner’s calligraphy course. Lyndsey is a very encouraging, systematic, and detail oriented teacher. It is amazing how much my friend and I learned by taking this course and practicing the calligraphy presented. I like the way she answers your submitted questions within 24 hours. Lyndsey does everything (product delivery, teaching…) with such professional excellence along with personal touches. I also appreciate the low costs of her classes and the free tutorials and worksheets she offers for everyone interested.

Love this course! It’s perfect for beginners – cover all you need to know to get started. I can do it at my own pace and re-watch any parts that I need to go over again. This is a very useful resource and I am sure I will keep coming back to it every now and then. Have already started on intermediate course 🙂
I am amazed by how fast Lindsey responds to questions I have. Thank you Lindsey for opening up the world of calligraphy to me. Love your calming voice too 🙂

Great video course! This course is super-beginner friendly and just what I needed to start pointed pen calligraphy. And it’s great value too considering that it gets you started on writing words in 3 different calligraphy styles for a fraction of the cost of other video courses on the market that only teach one style.
