People love Amy Style calligraphy because of its wonderful legibility and the interplay between straight lines and playful loops! The Amy is a no-slant style that is wonderful for wedding invitations, artwork, and general calligraphy writing endeavors. To begin, you’ll need a straight calligraphy dip pen, a Nikko G nib (for beginners) or Brause EF66 nib (for intermediate), sumi or India ink, and a printer and paper. I highly recommend printing TPK calligraphy worksheets out on 32# laserjet paper (you can use laserjet paper in any printer). It will be easiest to fill out this worksheet if you have taken the Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy Online Course, though many learners have worked through the worksheet without doing so.

A very good style to start with! I bought this out of reason, not fully convinced by the design, but understanding that it would be good to start with a font that doesn’t require a certain slant. And now I’m really glad I did! Lots of letters are not too different from their versions in other styles, yet they are simple enough to have some success quickly, and at the beginning it’s really important that you see progress. They help you build muscle memory at the same time. In the start I was so terrible with a dip pen I almost lost interest in it. So I did the set as brush calligraphy with a Tombow instead… again and again until my first two ones (hard and soft tip) ran out of ink. Then I felt ready to try the dip pen again – and I finally got results! Muscle memory of the letterforms had helped enough that I could concentrate on the writing process itself now 😉 That’s the huge advantage of the set, you can print it a million times, try different paper, smaller sizes, and improve your skills in all directions. And what’s really great: I bought a very early version from a few years ago, and still I’m able to download the later, more detailed ones for free!

These worksheets are so very helpful when it comes to teaching you how to write in a style you love, and this Amy style just so happens to be one I am in love with, because of just how beautiful it is when you get down to writing full sentences, let alone words 😀 Will keep coming back to The Postmans Knock for more.
